شکل دارويي: کپسول

موارد مصرف: افزاينده ميل جنسي در زنان و كم‌كننده ميل جنسي در مردان؛ رافع افسردگي و بهبود حال زنان يائسه و گرگرفتگي يائسگي؛ نافع براي طحال.

توضيحات: اثلق داراي خواص بسياري است. در کتاب مخزن الادويه درباره اثلق نوشته شده که مصرف آن براي جنون و تفتيح سده دماغ و خفقان سوداوي و بلغمي و تفتيح سده جگر و سپرز (طحال) و کسر رياح و زياد کردن شير و تجفيف (خشکاندن) مني و ادرار (به جريان انداختن) حيض مؤثر است (1 و 2). امروزه از عصاره‌هاي اين گياه براي درمان سندرم پيش از قاعدگي (3)، خونريزي‌هاي غيرطبيعي رحم،‌ درد پستان (4)، و هيپرپرولاکتينمي خفيف (5) استفاده مي‌شود. همچنين رازيانه در کتب طب سنتي به عنوان مفتح سدد مجارى سينه و كبد و طحال و گرده و مثانه و مسكن اوجاع آنها كه از برودت باشد و مقوى باصره و معده و محلل رياح و اخلاط غليظ و مولد و زياده كننده شير و مدر بول و حيض و ترياق سموم حيواني معرفي شده است (1 و2). در طب امروزي رازيانه را به عنوان يک داروي محافظ کبد، شيرآور، و قاعده‌آور مي‌شناسند که فعاليتي مشابه استروژن دارد (6). تخم جزر نيز مدر قوى است و براي استسقا و عسرالبول و انتفاخ بطن و رفع سموم مفيد مي‌‌باشد (1و2). از آنجايي که هر سه مفرده بر دستگاه تناسلي زنان تاثير مي‌گذارند ترکيب دارويي اثلق با رازيانه و تخم زردک مي‌تواند در تنظيم عادت ماهانه و فعال كردن تخمدان‌ها مؤثر باشد.

آثار دارو از ديد طب سنتي: مفتح سده کبد و رحم، محلل رياح و اخلاط غليظ، ملطف، مدر بول و حيض، مبهي زنان

مزاج کلي دارو: گرم در دوم

منع مصرف: به دليل وجود رازيانه در ترکيب دارو در صورت ابتلا به سرطانهاي وابسته به استروژن در مصرف دارو احتياط شود.

عوارض جانبي: عارضه جانبي خاصي گزارش نشده است.

شايعترين عوارض اثلق عبارتند از تهوع، سردرد، اختلالات گوارشي، اختلالات قاعدگي، آکنه، خارش‌، و بثورات سرخ رنگ (7) که در ترکيب با مفردات ذکر شده در اين دارو اين اثرات مضر گزارش نشده است.

دستور مصرف: نيم‌ساعت پيش از صبحانه و شب پيش از خواب دو کپسول ميل شود.

تداخلات دارويي: جذب دارو در حالت ناشتا بيشتر است؛ در عين حال مصرف بعد از غذا هم با توصيه طبيب معالج با ملاحظات مربوط به مزاج و بيماري قابل اجراست. اين دارو با داروهاي هورموني تداخل دارد.

مصرف در حاملگي و شيردهي: مصرف دارو در بارداري و شيردهي با مشاوره پزشک انجام پذيرد.

نکات قابل توصيه: مصرف طولاني مدت آن در مردان مي‌تواند موجب ناباروري شود.

کپسول اثلق براي خشکي واژن به همراه پماد ب يا پماد کتان مفيد است. زماني که از اين دارو براي درمان بيماري فيبروکيستيک سينه استفاده مي‌شود مي‌توان همزمان از روغن کتان به صورت موضعي و خوراکي نيز بهره برد. کپسول اثلق در کاهش پرولاکتين اثر دارد.

Capsule aslagh

Drug form: capsule

Indications: An aphrodisiac drug for women and reducer of sexual desire in men; effective in improving mood disorders, depression, and flushing in postmenopausal women; useful for treating splenic disorders

Comments: Vitex agnus castus has numerous properties. According to the “Makhzan-al-Adviyah” (The Storehouse of Medicaments) Vitex agnus castus is effective in treatment of depression, arrhythmias due to black bile and phlegm and unclogging brain, hepatic, and splenic blockings, and acts as a carminative, lactiferous, emmenagogue, and semen desiccant agent (1,2). Nowadays, the extracts of this herb are used to treat premenstrual syndrome (3), abnormal uterine bleeding, breast pain (4), and mild hyperprolactinemia (5). Also, Foeniculum vulgare has been introduced as a remover of blockages of breast, liver, spleen, kidney, and bladder ducts and relieves pain with cold source according to the traditional medicine textbooks. This herb reinforces eye sight and stomach; dissolves stomach gases and thick humors; and acts as a lactiferous, diuretic, emmenagogue, and an antidote (1,2). Fennel which has an estrogen-like activity is known as a hepatoprotective, lactiferous, and emmenagogue drug in modern medicine (6). Daucus carota seed is also a potent diuretic and useful for treating dropsy, difficult urination, flatulence, and poisoning (1,2). Since, these three simple plants have therapeutic effects on female reproductive system; their combination can be effective in regulating menstruation and ovarian activity.

Composition: Vitex agnus castus, Foeniculum vulgare seed, Daucus carota seed

Traditional mechanisms of action: unclogging blocked liver and uterine ducts; a rarefying agent, and dissolvent of thick humors and stomach gas; diuretic and emmenagogue; arousing sexual desire in women

Drug temperament: Hot in the second grade

Contraindications: The drug should be prescribed cautiously in patients with estrogen-dependent cancers because of fennel in this combination.

Side effects: Not reported. The most common side effects of Vitex agnus castus include nausea, headache, gastrointestinal disorders, menstrual irregularity, acne, itching, and red rash (7); but, they have not been reported on the compound drug prescription.

Administration and dosage: 2 capsules orally half an hour before breakfast and at bedtime.

Interactions: The drug is better absorbed in fasting; however, consumption after meal is also recommended under consideration of physician according to the patient temperament and type of disorder. There are some interactions between this drug and hormones.

Pregnancy and lactation: The drug can be taken in these two periods only under the physician’s direction.

Recommendations: Extended use of this capsule can result in infertility in men.

This medication is useful for treating vaginal dryness accompanying with B ointment or flaxseed ointment. When the drug is used to treat fibrocystic breasts, flaxseed oil can also be used topically and orally. This capsule is effective in treating hyperprolactinemia.
